5-HTP (L-5-Hydroxytryptophan) is an intermediate in the natural conversion of the essential amino acid tryptophan to serotonin, a brain chemical associated with positive mood and well-being. Preclinical studies show that 5-HTP may help support healthy levels of serotonin in the body. In addition to a balanced mood, serotonin may also support melatonin production and a healthy sleep cycle. 5-HTP Products

5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is a naturally occurring amino acid. It is the intermediate step between tryptophan and the important brain chemical serotonin. 5-HTP, also known as oxitriptan, helps calm anxiety, improves mood, controls appetite, and is used as a sleep aid.

5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) is produced as a by-product of L-tryptophan, a protein building block. It can also be created using the seeds of an African plant known as Griffonia simplicifolia. 5-HTP supplements work within the brain and through the central nervous system by causing an increase in serotonin production. Serotonin is a natural chemical that can affect your experience of pain, sleep patterns, sexual behavior, temperature, appetite, and moods.

Because 5-HTP causes an increase in serotonin synthesis, 5-HTP supplements are very useful in dealing with various conditions such as obesity, insomnia and other sleep disorders, depression, anxiety, and other mood-related disorders, migraine headaches, tension headaches, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, fibromyalgia, premenstrual syndrome, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, seizure disorders, and even Parkinson's disease.

It is essential to consult your physician before using these supplements. By following the advice of your health care professional and using high quality 5-HTP supplements from Vita Living, you can be sure of having a positive experience with 5-HTP.
