When taken orally, D-mannose is minimally metabolized and rapidly excreted in urine, so it does not tend to affect healthy blood sugar regulation. D-mannose appears to help maintain normal genitourinary function by binding to flora and and promoting the health of the mucosal lining of the urinary tract.
